It’s a double win at the Print Scotland Apprentice Awards 2025
Posted on July 02, 2025

We are thrilled to announce that our Print Apprentice from East Kilbride Aidan Rogan has won the Press Award at this year’s Print Scotland Apprentice Awards, with Aidan’s mentor, Steven McKnight also recognised with the Mentor of the Year Award.
Our UK Operations Director, Garry McLeish, was there on the night to support our winning pair at The Village Hotel, Glasgow.
‘I am absolutely delighted that Aidan and Steven have both been recognised in this year’s Print Scotland Awards. Apprenticeship programs like this one are just one area CCL Design invests in employee development; key for both the individual and our businesses success going forward.’
The night celebrated the achievements of young people in the industry, but more so, Print Scotland aims to highlight the print industry as a rewarding career path, raising the profile of future leaders in Scotland’s print sector and the importance of apprenticeships in the industry’s future.
Aidan joined CCL Design through our apprentice program, knowing the foundation it could give him. ‘I had a desire to gain practical experience and develop skills that would give me the opportunity to build a solid foundation for a successful career.’ Our structured program ensures apprentices are given the support and knowledge they need. ‘The support from my mentor, Steven, has been very important. He shared his own experiences, in turn helping me build confidence in what I do. I set goals and objectives and receive practical and helpful advice, support and encouragement.’
Steven’s role as mentor holds centre stage alongside the achievements of Aidan. For mentors like Steven, it’s important they grasp the value of their own knowledge. ‘Mentoring has greatly enhanced my skills within the printing industry. It has allowed me to pass on my valuable expertise and understand the learning pathway.’ And when asked why he became a mentor, Steven knows that knowledge sharing is crucial. ‘Being a mentor gives me great work satisfaction; seeing a young person learn new skills that will be of great use to them for years to come. It has definitely enhanced my overall outlook and is very exciting for the future and the business.’
Congratulations again to Aidan and Steven, and to all other winners on the night.
