Logistics Operator

Purpose of position

To provide logistical support in all activities within the logistics department to achieve and exceed both internal and external customer expectations.


Main Responsibilities

  • Receiving, packing and despatching goods daily.
  • Preparing export / import documentation in line with customs regulations.
  • Liaise with Carriers to arrange collections for customer deliveries.
  • Review and understand stock information to ensure accuracy of the data and correct allocation of stock to customer orders.
  • Stock Takes (weekly and monthly stock checking and cycle counts).
  • Control of Finished Goods system.
  • Pre-Press tasks including the checking and allocating spares to new orders, retrieving and returning platen press tools for production, keeping the spares database up to date and current.
  • Liaising with internal customers (Production, Customer Service, R&D etc) to schedule shipments.
  • Monitor and work to resolve any customs clearance issues.
  • Dealing with Carriers and Delivery Drivers whilst on-site, efficiently and safely.
  • Observing and maintaining all Health and Safety standards in line with company policy.
  • Support Continuous Improvement initiatives.
  • Obtaining best prices for international carriers.
  • Raising Order Requisitions for required materials/stock.
  • Flexibility to vary approach and take on new tasks/responsibilities including. Goods Inwards and Material Cutting tasks, as well as assisting in production when required.

Qualifications/ experience

  • A proven track record within a busy and dynamic Logistics environment (essential).
  • Experience of using Courier (FedEx, DHL Express) shipping software systems (essential)
  • Intermediate PC literacy and experience of Microsoft Office, particularly Word and Excel.
  • First-class attention to detail.
  • Excellent time management and organisational skills.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Be able to work as a team within Logistics and with other departments.
